The festival was held in 3 areas of the Tata Castle, the ‘Old Lake’ and the Esterházy-Hall, which are the most prominent parts of Tata. The top attraction of the fishing festival was the spectacular fishing show performed with a 400-meter-long trawl net, a unique sight not to be seen elsewhere in Hungary.
The fishing took up the whole day, the selection of the catch, and the fish market all made it possible to get to know the strenuous physical work of fishermen together with all its attractions. The curiosity of the event was the fishing cottage made of cane, built in the middle of the lake. This kind of cottage was peculiar for the fishermen of the ‘Old Lake’ and nowhere else. The festival was accompanied by the fish-cooking festival and market of fish food from all parts of the country, offering a uniquely wide range of various fish dishes and displaying the great fish gastronomy of the country.
The festival also featured various cultural programmes with the participation of bands and traditional folk dance ensembles. It was a good opportunity for those interested in Nature and delicious foods to spend a pleasant weekend full of experience in Tata.
