Russia halts gas to Ukraine, imports to Hungary continue

Following reports that Russia’s Gazprom cut off gas deliveries to Ukraine,  Magyar Földgázkereskedő, the gas trading unit of state-owned Hungarian Electricity Works (MVM), said yesterday that Hungaryʼs gas imports are continuing uninterrupted and at a level appropriate for secure supply, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

The Hungarian company said that Gazprom is meeting all of its commitments in a long-term delivery contract, MTI reported.

The majority of gas imported to Hungary arrives from Russia, passing through pipelines in Ukriane.

Hungaryʼs gas storage facilities currently contain 3.2 billion cubic meters of gas, well over the projected household demand, and more than half of the nationwide requirement for winter, state secretary for energy András Aradszki said on November 19.  via BBJ
