Out of use Ferihegy terminal could become exhibition hall

Terminal 1 of Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport (pictured), a landmark building previously called Ferihegy, which stopped operation when national carrier Malév was grounded in 2012, could be turned into an interactive exhibition hall honoring aviation history, Hungarian daily Magyar Hírlap reported today.

Gábor Somogyi-Tóth, operator of Aeropark, an outdoor aviation museum on the edge of Terminal 2, would like to move the old Malév aircraft on display there to Terminal 1 and add simulators, multimedia components and a gift shop into the mix, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

Somogyi-Tóth said that his plan would cost a lot of money, however, he added that he is in talks with government representatives regarding the move. via BBJ
