Hungarian arts and culture exhibition opens in Abu Dhabi

A three week celebration of Hungarian arts and culture has opened in the heart of Abu Dhabi at Al Bateen.

The Etihad Modern Art Gallery is hosting the joint exhibition of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and the University of Pécs Department of Art.

It features embroidered shirts and pillows from the Transylvanian Bukovina and a traditional cross-stitching pattern used in Hungarian folk embroidery transformed into paper scores for music.

On the ground floor of the gallery, there will be design works inspired by Mercedes.

Khalid Al Asmani, the gallery’s founder and chairman, said: “Abu Dhabi has always been the link between the west and the east in trade and culture.

“It is a great opportunity and a discovery. The Hungarians are proud and innovative nation and we have found many similarities between their culture and the Arabic culture”

During the three week display, events scheduled to take place include a showing of great Hungarian inventions, free tasting of traditional cuisine, arts, crafts and music nights from 7pm-10pm. via thenational.ae
